Description

Robert plays the opening of “Sonate in C Major,” by Mozart, and the teacher records his playing. They listen to the recording (in slow motion) to see if the trill in the right hand is timed to match the notes of the left hand. They also listen to the sonority produced by each hand, and decide that the left hand is played too loud. After discussing the problems the student plays it again, and they listen to the 2nd recording for improvements. The teacher shows the student two graphs. The first graph shows the level of sound produced by each hand during the student’s performance. The teacher explains that when the lines cross this is when the left hand becomes louder than the right. The teacher also explains that overall the left hand line should be below the right hand line.
