PhD in Human Kinetics (with a Research Topic in Piano Pedagogy)
The PhD in human kinetics allows students to take a research topic in piano pedagogy. In a partnership with the Piano Pedagogy Research Laboratory students are able to conduct their research at the Piano Lab.

Degree Requirements: 6-18 credits including Comprehensive Examination, Thesis and Defense

In consultation with the thesis supervisor, students choose course(s) related to their research project.

Master of Arts with Thesis in Piano Pedagogy
The Master of Arts (MA) program in Music with a thesis in Piano Pedagogy allows students to become familiar with existing research in the field and to train as a researcher by working on a project dealing with piano learning or piano teaching.

Degree Requirements: 18 credits

The choice of elective credits is subject to the approval of the thesis supervisor. The School may stipulate additional requirements depending upon the student's choice of research topic. Students are allowed to take up to 6 MUS credits at the 4000 level, provided they complete additional work to the satisfaction of the Director of graduate studies.

Research Paper - 6 cr.

The topic of the research paper must be approved before the end of the fall term in the second year. The final paper must receive the grade of "S" (satisfactory) from both the professor who supervised its preparation and from a second reader.

Graduate Diploma in Piano Pedagogy Research
The Graduate Diploma in Piano Pedagogy Research focuses on the study of multidisciplinary research to provide a better understanding of the processes involved in learning to play the piano. The graduate diploma enables piano teachers to incorporate scientific knowledge into their practice and develops highly qualified professionals with a strong interest in research in their field.

Diploma Requirements: 15 credits + Oral Examination
