Martin Brooks

Dr. Martin Brooks leads the Broadband Visual Communication Research Program (BVC) at NRC’s Institute for Information Technology. The BVC objective is to catalyze large-scale deployment of broadband networks, thus maintaining Canada’s place as a world leader in advanced ICT technology. Brooks was the Research Manager for the $4M LearnCanada project (www.LearnCanada.ca) and the $1.4M MusicGrid project (www.MusicGrid.ca). Brooks has previously led NRC’s Interactive Information and Knowledge Systems research groups. Prior to coming to NRC, Brooks carried out research in robotics, artificial intelligence, and software engineering at SINTEF, in Oslo Norway. Brooks has a B.A. in mathematics from MIT and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University.
