Shervin Shirmohammadi
Shervin Shirmohammadi received his B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Communications option, in 1995 from the University of Ottawa. He graduated with the highest standing in the entire Faculty of Engineering, winning the University of Ottawa Gold Medal and the PEO Gold Medal. He then pursued his graduate studies with Prof. Nicolas Georganas at the University of Ottawa, leading to his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in 1996 and 2000, respectively, winning a number of scholarships, awards, and prizes along the way. Dr. Shirmohammadi’s research has to led to the creation of a number of multimedia systems, with 16 technology transfers, many publications, and awards. He also has over 7 years of industry experience as a Software Development specialist and a Consultant, participating and contributing to industrial R&D projects. His current research interests are Multimedia Communications, Collaborative Virtual Reality and Gaming Environments, and Tele-Haptics. He is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario (PEO P.Eng.) and a senior member of the IEEE (SMIEEE).
